Local Missions

GCC Mission Objectives

Global Crossfire Church (GCC) exists to support and empower individuals and families, particularly young people and those living in deprived and under-resourced communities across Thanet and surrounding areas. We respond to social, educational, and well-being needs by delivering inclusive, community-centred programmes that promote confidence, opportunity, and positive life outcomes.

Our work provides access to educational support, mentoring, counselling, skills development, and community engagement activities for people facing challenges such as unemployment, social isolation, and limited access to opportunity. All community outreach programmes are delivered on a non-faith-based basis and are open to all, regardless of background, belief, or circumstance.

We actively promote social inclusion, diversity, and community cohesion by creating safe, supportive spaces where people from different backgrounds can connect, learn, and grow. Working in partnership with local organisations and professionals, we aim to reduce barriers, strengthen resilience, and support individuals to reach their full potential. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to equality, participation, and meaningful community impact.

Musical Instrument Training Programme

The Musical Instrument Training Programme is an ongoing initiative delivered as part of the Thanet Community Inclusion Programme. It supports children and young people aged 9–20 from within Thanet and the wider community by providing access to structured musical instrument training. Participants are taught to play instruments such as guitar, keyboard, drums, and alto saxophone through regular sessions led by skilled volunteers from our charity and the local community. To reduce financial barriers, musical instruments are provided on a loan basis, enabling young people to practise at home alongside their weekly teaching sessions. The programme promotes confidence, creativity, discipline, and positive engagement, particularly for young people who may have limited access to extracurricular opportunities. With additional funding, the programme can be expanded to reach more young people across the community.

Youth and Young Adults Engagement Programme

The Youth and Young Adults Engagement Programme is an ongoing initiative delivered as part of the Thanet Initiative Community Programme. It supports young people and young adults aged 14–25 from diverse and under-represented backgrounds within Thanet and surrounding communities. The programme provides inclusive, safe spaces where participants can build confidence, develop practical skills, and connect through shared interests. Activities focus on employability and personal development, including interview preparation, job-readiness skills, effective learning strategies, creative skills such as vocal training and photography, and access to counselling support where needed. Through regular engagement and strong links within local communities, we are well placed to identify individuals who would benefit most from additional support or early intervention. Where appropriate, we work in partnership with other organisations to ensure young people receive the right level of guidance and assistance.

All donations and gifts directly support the delivery and growth of this programme.

Community Fun Day Project

The Community Fun Day Project is an annual summer event delivered to engage and bring together local families, children, and young people through free, inclusive community activities. The event is designed to promote positive social interaction, community cohesion, and well-being. Activities include bouncy castles, arts and crafts, stationery and book provision, face and nail painting, hair braiding, and a free barbecue meal available to all attendees. The event is well attended by families from the local community and provides a welcoming, safe environment for people of all backgrounds to connect and enjoy shared experiences. The Community Fun Day plays an important role in strengthening community relationships and supporting positive social outcomes for children and families.

All contributions towards this event are greatly appreciated and directly support its delivery and impact.

Maths & English Learning Support Programme

The Maths & English Learning Support Programme is an ongoing initiative delivered as part of the Thanet Community Inclusion Programme. It supports primary and secondary school pupils who may be struggling academically, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds and young people for whom English is an additional language. Support is provided through after-school homework clubs and targeted learning sessions, alongside an intensive summer learning programme. Teaching is delivered by trained and skilled volunteers and focuses on building core literacy and numeracy skills, confidence, and positive learning habits. The programme helps children and young people to improve engagement in learning and achieve better outcomes at school.

All donations and contributions directly support the delivery and development of this programme.

Show Your Love Project

The Show Your Love Project is an ongoing support initiative that began during the COVID-19 pandemic and is delivered as part of the Thanet Community Inclusion Programme. It provides practical assistance to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship, including those from low-income households and those affected by unemployment.

The project offers essential support through food vouchers and gift cards, helping families facing increased financial pressure due to household size, reduced income, or limited access to additional support. Assistance is provided through one-to-one and small group support sessions, ensuring help is responsive to individual circumstances. Support is delivered by trained volunteers, some of whom travel within the community to reach those who may struggle to access services. Referrals are received through community networks and partner organisations. We work in partnership with relevant local organisations to maximise reach and ensure support is targeted effectively.

Food Bank Support

Our charity works in close partnership with local food banks and community food organisations to support individuals experiencing food insecurity, including those who are homeless or facing temporary financial hardship, such as social security benefit gaps. We regularly contribute food items to support local distribution efforts, helping ensure essential supplies reach those most in need. In response to seasonal pressures, particularly during the winter months, support is extended to include toiletries and warm clothing where possible. This partnership-based approach allows us to respond flexibly to changing community needs and ensures support is delivered efficiently and respectfully.
